Dredge owner denies wounding Brazilian

A 30-YEAR-OLD dredge owner was on Tuesday placed on $70,000 bail by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan for wounding a female Brazilian National during a misunderstanding.

Seon David of Haslington, East Coast Demerara (ECD) denied that on January 20, at Aranka Landing, Essequibo, he unlawfully and maliciously wounded Hilgros Hernandez.

David’s attorney, Paul Fung-a-fat explained to the court that it was a simple mistake since the virtual complainant was the one armed with a scissors with which she accidently grazed herself during a misunderstanding with his client.

Police Prosecutor, Inspector Neville Jeffers, made no objection to bail but requested that reporting condition be attached.

The Chief Magistrate released David on bail and transferred the matter to the Bartica Magistrate’s Court for February 10.

David was also ordered to report to the Aranka Police Station every Friday until completion of the trial.
