A taxi driver was rushed to a city hospital after he was shot in the lower abdomen during a daring robbery around noon today outside the Jialing Motorcycles and Repair store on Oronoque and Charlotte streets, Georgetown.

According to reports reaching the Guyana Chronicle, the taxi driver took a female to the store to make a purchase shortly after withdrawing a large sum of money from Republic Bank.

It is alleged that two men apparently traced the duo to the store in a 212 motorcar and pounced on them outside the store. They shot the taxi driver and snatched the woman’s handbag, which reportedly contains the money and her licensed firearm. The Guyana Chronicle will provide more details as it becomes available.
