NICKEL Anes, a 24-year-old pork knocker has been charged with the brutal murder of a Brazilian dredge owner after reportedly luring him to his mining camp located at Chinese Creek Backdam, Mazaruni River.Anes of South Sophia appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan after he was reportedly apprehended by the police wrapped up in a tarpaulin hiding in a truck that was leaving Puruni at a check point a few days ago.

He was not required to plead to the indictable charge which alleged that on December 28, 2016 at Chinese Creek Backdam, he murdered his boss, Francisco Oliveria DaConceicao, 33, of Joselander, Maranhao, Brazil.

He was remanded by Magistrate McLennan, who transferred the matter to the Bartica Magistrate’s Court for January 13, 2017.

According to reports, on the day in question, the dredge owner was lured to his mining camp where he was attacked and allegedly chopped by Anes and four other employees.

DaConceicao was stabbed several times about his body, including his head, face and hands and was taken to the Bartica Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The incident occurred between 00:30hrs and 01:30 hrs.

According to reports, DaConceicao was sleeping with his wife, Miranda Manuele in her shop located five metres away from his dredge when one of the suspects visited and informed him that his dredge was under water.

The man’s body was later found with several stab wounds.
