IT was a good day for the swimmers from the Dorado Swim Club who are representing Guyana at the Amateur Swimming Association of Trinidad and Tobago (ASATT) International Invitational which begun on Thursday.The first day was a successful one with good performances from the Dorado swimmers. In the Girls 15 & Over 1500m freestyle, Soroya Simmons took home gold with a time of 20:26.44, meanwhile in the 1500m Freestyle Boys 15 & Over, Daniel Scott finished third with a time of 19:20.05 improving by 2 minutes and 20 seconds on his entry time.
In the 1500m freestyle, Boys 12 to 14 years Alex Winter finished third with a time of 19:58.50 also improving 1 minute and 30 seconds on his entry time.
Lian Winter placed third yesterday in a gruelling 200m butterfly in the Girls 11-12 category with a time of 3:08.77. Meanwhile in her 50m freestyle in the same age group she finished 0.6 seconds faster with a time of 35.73.
In the 50m backstroke, Girls 9-10 Monique Watson improved 1 second on her entry time finishing with 21.91. In the Boys 9-10 Ethan Gonsalves improved by 2.40 seconds with a time of 40.33 while Elliot Gonsalves improved on his time by 1.04 seconds finishing with 42.00.
Also winning gold was Amy Grant in the 13-14 1500m freestyle. She finished with a time of 22:35.55. (Daniel Haynes)
