NAND Persaud International Communications (NPIC), a member of the Nand Persaud Group of Companies of East Berbice/Corentyne, Region Six, received The Special Award for Excellence in Service Exports when the Caribbean Export Development Agency (Caribbean Export) hosted its second Caribbean Exporter of the Year awards ceremony recently at the Hilton Resort in Barbados. The awards ceremony was funded by the European Union (EU) via the 10th European Development Fund Regional Private Sector Development Programme, which seeks to recognise and promote the contributions of outstanding exporters to the region’s economy.

Established in 2002, Nand Persaud International Communications is the first locally-owned and operated near-shore contact centre that boasts a wide portfolio of international clients, especially in the USA and Canada. With its base at Tain, Corentyne, next to the University of Guyana Berbice campus, NPIC currently employs more than 500 employees.

In 2015, the company recorded a massive 31 per cent increase in export of its services. This leap in export has given NPIC the nod over all the other companies in the region, and has resulted in the company being recognised for this accomplishment.

“Its commitment to excellence has caused NPIC to gain a strong reputation for quality, which has differentiated it from the competition, and has been critical in its success,” part of the citation read.

NPIC and the Nand Persaud Group of Companies are not strangers to success, as they have won several awards since their establishment.
According to NPIC Managing Director Galdram ‘Darren’ Ramdial, the key to NPIC’s success has been its unwavering stance on quality, which is paramount to the success of the industry; and its forward-thinking initiatives which always place the NPIC one step ahead of its local counterparts.

“This award means a lot to us, and it’s good to know our hard work is being recognized,” he said. “We will continue to set the bar higher, to provide higher quality services to our clients,” he said.

The company recently invested US$528,000 — the equivalent of more than Gy$100M — to go 100 per cent solar. The investment has seen the company acquiring a 220KW solar plant, making it the first commercial enterprise to go 100 per cent green.

The award is the second the company has received in as many years, having won the Green Exporter of the Year Award at the inaugural awards in 2015.
