THE Guyana Amateur Weightlifting Association (G.A.W.A) began its three-day weightlifting course for Level one coaches on Saturday.The course facilitator is world renowned sports scientist, Dr Kyle Pierce of the Louisiana State University, Shreveport Louisiana U.S.A. Saturday’s event began with welcoming and opening remarks from Frank Tucker,president of the G.A.W.A.
Also present to give remarks were Director of Sport Christopher Jones and Vice president of the Guyana Olympic Association,Mr Noel Adonis
Twenty participants from various organisations and gyms around the country were present.
The course is financed by the Pan American Weightlifting Federation and the International Weightlifting Federation and successful participants will be Pan American Certified level one coaches on conclusion of the course.
