Comfort Sleep to fete 500 children this Christmas

COMFORT Sleep, Guyana’s leading producers of foam mattresses and pillows will this year be hosting two Christmas parties for more than 500 children who are beneficiaries of the company’s school feeding programmes at West Demerara and Berbice. As usual, Santa Claus will be in attendance distributing toys to the children, while members of the monastery will join teachers in serving lunch and goodies and take-away bags.

Throughout the school year, with supplies provided by Comfort Sleep, the sole donor, hot, nutritious meals are prepared by the Malgre Tout Roman Catholic Church and distributed to these schools with the help of retired teachers.

On Sunday, December 11, at New Amsterdam, Berbice, there will be a Christmas party beginning at 10:00 hrs. At Berbice, the feeding programme is overseen by the Church of the Ascension in New Amsterdam and caters for the needs of Edinburgh Primary School and Friends Primary School, East Bank Berbice.

Comfort Sleep provides cooking materials, while the church oversees the preparation of meals for the children throughout the year and at year-end, they are treated to a gala Christmas party.

Meanwhile, the party usually held at the Ptolemy Reid Rehabilitation Centre for children there, will not be held this year, due to logistical issues.

Instead, Comfort Sleep will be making a monetary donation to the centre. The mattress company has had a longstanding and ongoing relationship with the Ptolemy Reid Rehabilitation Centre and makes generous contributions towards the humanitarian cause.

Comfort Sleep, a good corporate citizen has been hosting such parties in the respective regions for the last 10 years, bringing joy to the hearts of little children who would otherwise probably not have a fun time to look forward to for the Christmas holidays.

The feeding programmes and the Christmas parties are the brainchild of Comfort Sleep’s Managing Director, Mr. Dennis Charran.

The Managing Director said that he derives an inner peace and gratification from these initiatives. A father of three, with a close affinity for little children, he has been singlehandedly and cheerfully financing these projects each year.

Mr. Charran would like to extend gratitude to customers for supporting the establishment over the last 10 years, and to wish them peace, joy and happiness each day of the year, but particularly at Christmas time.
