TENISHA Garnett-Billington is best known for her awe-inducing special effects makeup, but her work as a professional makeup artist (MUA) is no less popular. In fact, Tenisha has been ranked as one of the most well known MUAs in Guyana whose makeup classes, held at her David Street location, is oftentimes packed with eager clients ready to learn.
But  now, this talented artist has taken a step further by launching her very own makeup line, ‘Flawless’.

“My husband, who works in a lab, came up with the formula; so he contacted some persons to have it made. He’s good with that kind of stuff,” Tenisha said about her line.
Guyana has a wide array of MUAs, all of whom dabble in the use of popular brands of makeup, but Tenisha is the first local MUA to start her own line.

JUST GLITTER
The ‘Flawless’ line has begun with just glitter pallettes, but Tenisha is currently working on introducing a lipstick line and a contour pallette in the near future.
“I have been working to come up with colours, concepts and names, and I want to also do some items with the colours of the Guyana Flag,” she said, adding:
“I have some of the samples, and hopefully will have them in stock soon.”
In addition to retailing the line at her store, Tenisha said she is also working to have it sold via Amazon and eBay as well to facilitate customers in other countries.
Though modest, Tenisha is still quite proud of the things she has achieved, and says that she remains quite committed to her business, which is still located in Guyana, though she lives abroad.
“My business is very profitable; makes no sense to shut everything down. I love my studio; I can’t stay away,” she said.

IN FUTURE
As such, the young businesswoman ensures that she returns to continue classes with her clients, and conduct business in Guyana.
Meanwhile, she continues in her aspirations to advance her fantasy makeup skills, and hopes to train academically by attending conferences and other forums on special- effects makeup.
For small business owners, Tenisha encourages them to stay focused, stating that success can be achieved, but that a good support system is needed.
“The makeup line especially is all because of my husband; I don’t think I would have been able to get it done so easily by myself. People definitely need someone there helping and supprting them in everything,” she said.
