The awardees were categorized into three sections of top 10 for the National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA) and Caribbean Secondary Examination Council (CSEC). The categories were employees’ children top 10, Region 10 top 10 and national top 10.
Some of the awardees for the NGSA were: Danica Wilson, Erenilda DeSouza, Anthony Ferreira and Aryan Singh. For CSEC: Daicia Caesar, Asher Marks, KayshavTewari, Aadilah Ali and Fatima Karim.

The awardees who represented schools across Linden and Georgetown were smartly dressed in their school uniforms and were given lots of advice on how to remain on the path to success. They were awarded cash prizes, trophies, gifts and certificates.
Giving the feature address was member of Parliament Jermaine Figueira, who expressed how honoured he was to be in the presence of Guyana’s brightest minds and he congratulated them for their academic achievements of greatness. He also expressed gratitude to Bosai for recognizing these achievers and awarding them for jobs well done.

He stressed on the importance of being academically inclined and the importance of acquiring higher education. “Only an educated person can consider himself or herself really free and master of his own fate. It is only with an educated people, that representatives and democratic organs of the government can exist and exercise the influence of national progress,” Figueira pointed out, adding that if Guyanese were to truly aspire to greatness as a nation we should strive to be products of academia.

Regional Chairman, Renis Morian in his short address advised parents to continue supporting their children in every necessary way as they were on the journey of pursing their dreams. “The responsibility on us is that we need to recognize that it will cost us money. It will costs us time and support, but we are confident that our future is secured because these are the young leaders,” he said.

Similar sentiments were echoed by General Manager of Bosai, Robert Shang who also posited that Bosai was honored to hosts such an event as it had supported several other education community ventures such as sports, pageantry and tours. He revealed that Bosai would continue to hold bursary awards even as this would be his last. However, with his successor, it would be bigger and better.

Bosai’s bursary awards started in 2005 but only employees’ children were awarded. In 2009, this changed and the bauxite company began to recognize regional achievers, and in 2011 national achievers. According to Human Resource Manager, Trudell Marks, the bauxite company would continue to take its responsibility seriously. Present at the awards was also Mayor of Linden, Carwyn Holland, Head of NICIL Horace James, religious leaders and other managerial staff of Bosai.
