AFTER two days of intense battle in the Georgetown Cricket Association’s (GCA) Noble House Seafoods second division two-day cricket, Everest, TSC, Police and GNIC have all qualified for the semi-final stage of the tournament.At Camp Ayanganna, opener Ovid Richardson scored back-to-back hundreds to propel GNIC to the next round.
Richardson followed up his first-innings top score of 121, with an even 100 before he retired hurt.
Batting first, GNIC made 325-9 declared in their first innings before they skittled out GDF for 71. Off-spinner Gajanand Suknanan spearheaded GNIC’s attack with 5-28. GNIC did not enforce the follow-on, and reached 223-8 declared.
Richardson was supported by Premchand Sookdeo, who made 61. Spinners Randy Lindore and Dennis Legay were the pick of GDF’s bowlers with three and two victims respectively.
At Everest, the hosts made 387, with Khemraj Ramdeen hitting a top score of 98. Linden Lyght and Dennis Squires snared three wickets each, while Sherfane Rutherford took two wickets.
DCC in reply reached 213-9. Sachin Singh made 48, while West Indies U-19 player Tevin Imlach scored 39 and Raymond Perez 38. Saheed Mohamed and Dwayne Adams collected four wickets each for Everest.
At MYO, Transport Sports Club (TSC) completed an outright victory over Muslim Youth Organistion (MYO). Batting first TSC made 266. The hosts were then bowled out for 51.
However, with a first-innings lead of 215, TSC enforced the follow-on, and MYO batting failed again, as they were skittled out for 107 in 15.4 overs. Off-spinner Joshua Wilson took 7-24.
Across at Eve Leary, the lawmen arrested Malteenoes Sports Club (MSC) after a brilliant century (146) by all-rounder Steven Harris. Resuming on 68-1 the hosts rallied to 360 all out. Apart from Harris’ century, Paul Tyndall and Jason McCalmont chipped in with 44 each.
Shaquille Moseley (3-65) and Kellon Carmichael (2-64) were the most successful bowlers for MSC. Batting a second time MSC reached 43-3.
GNIC will clash with Everest in semifinal one, while Police and TSC will do battle in the other semi-final clash.
