Bandits rob Cummings Lodge family

THE police are hunting a gunman and his accomplice following an armed robbery at Cummings Lodge, East Coast Demerara, on Thursday night.

The men relieved a mother and her daughter of their handbags which contained cash and other valuables.

The robbery took place around 20:30hrs when Sawarie Harolall and Canisa Bownauth of Crown Dam, Industry, East Coast Demerara, were visiting a relative.

As they arrived at their location, a silver-coloured 212 Toyota motor car pulled up and a suspect exited brandishing a firearm and proceeded to relieve them of the said articles.

The relative, who witnessed the incident on his close circuit television (CCTV), armed himself with his licensed firearm and fired six shots at the bandits, all of which missed them as they made good their escape in a waiting motor vehicle.

Sleuths are in the process of reviewing the CCTV footage in an effort to identify the suspect. No arrest has been made.
