GASA Nationals completed

THE three- day Guyana Amateur Swimming Association (GASA) Short Course Nationals came to a close at the National Aquatic Centre,Liliendaal,yesterday afternoon.
As the day came to a close there were over 70 races being competed in the various events.
The top performers on the day included Jeron Sookram of Dolphin Swim Club who improved his personal times in all three of the events he took part in. His fastest time of the day was 39.41 in the boys 8 and under 50 sc meter freestyle.

Also continuing his good performances from the previous days was 11 year old Leon Seaton of Silver Sharks Swim Club, who won a remarkable 6 races on the day. He also saw improvements on his personal best in 5 of his 6 wins. Ten-year-old Silver Sharks teammate Raekwon Noel also put on a good showing winning 6 races and improving his personal best in 2 of the 6.
Dorado Swim Club had four members performing well with veterans Hannibal Gaskin and Soroya Simmons leading the charge.

Gaskin had personal best in all four of his races,shedding the most time in the boys 18-and-over 100 SC meter freestyle finishing with 53.25- 5 seconds faster than his old time. Simmons finished in all 4 of her events improving her personal best in the 18-and-over girls 200 SC meter freestyle finishing with 2:22.18.
Dorado siblings Lian and Alex Winter both took home first in their events;winning 2 and 3 events respectively.
For Dolphin Swim Club,Kenita Mahaica took home first in all 4 events with her best showing being in the girls 13-14 50 SC meter freestyle with a time of 31.22.
Nine-year-old Aleka Persaud of Orca Swim Club also finished first in all 6 of her events. The Nationals had participation solely from clubs in Georgetown despite invitations to the other regions from GASA.
