FORMER national footballer and coach Lennox Arthur has planned a nine-a-side football tournament in recognition of former Prime Minister of Guyana and former Georgetown City Mayor Hamilton Green’s 82nd birth Anniversary and it is slated for the Den Amstel Ground, West Coast Demerara.
The two-day event will see 24 participating teams playing on a knock-out basis with the first game, expected to be kicked off at 15:00hrs,bringing together Golden Grove and Kuru Kururu.
The feature game will see hosts Den Amstel tackling Soesdyke FaLcons.
The other games on the day’s card will see Golden Warriors facing Mocha Champs, Wales coming up against Grove, Sara Lodge tackling West Ruimveldt, Vegae Boyz taking on Road Warriors, Goed Fortuin engaging Sparta Family, Jetty Gunners facing ’E’ Field Sophia, Stewartville tackling South Sophia, Pouderoyen facing Tucville, Crane opposing Alexander Village and Uitvlugt tackling Herstelling.
The second round of the tournament will be played on November 27 at the same venue and will see more preliminary matches being contested as well as the quarter and semi-finals, third-place play-off and final.
