…Saraswat Secondary are West Coast Demerara champions

NATIONAL Under-15 captain Sachin Singh’s brilliant all round performance and Ashmead Nedd’s half century led defending champions Chase Academy to an easy victory over Christ Church in the North Georgetown zone final yesterday at the GCC ground Bourda, as the 2016 edition of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) National Secondary School Cricket League (NSSCL) continued.Batting first Chase Academy piled up 230/5 in their 30 overs. Sachin Singh struck his second century of the competition when he scored 115 off 100 balls.

Singh stroked 15 fours and one six during his knock. Nedd was also among the runs hitting 62 off 50 balls including 6 fours and one maximum as the pair put on a 135 run partnership for the third wicket., Gorrick Persaud chipped in with 22, while Reynaldo Mohamed took 3/38 for Christ Church.
Christ Church lasted just 14.2 overs in their reply as they folded for 45. Singh returned with the ball to bag 6/14 and Nedd had 2/16 bowling for Chase Academy.
In the West Coast Demerara zone final at Zeeburg, Saraswat Secondary prevailed over SVN College in a low scoring affair.
SVN College could only make 73 all out in 19.2 overs. Ajita Persaud was the only batsman to reach double figures scoring 14. Bowling for Saraswat, Kevin Latchoo took 4/18 and Rajesh Budhram had 2/4.
Saraswat then lost six wickets in the process of scoring the 74 runs required for victory as they got to their target in the 16th over. Kevin Latchoo made 15 not out to lead the chase. Ajita Persaud took 2/19 in a losing cause for SVN College.
The NSSCL continues today with the East Georgetown zone final at the GCC ground, Bourda between St Joseph High and Tutorial High starting 10:30 hrs.
