A police constable is under investigation after he reportedly crashed a Guyana Police Force vehicle – PTT 5178 – into a utility police in Berbice on Tuesday.

According to reports, the police rank and two other constables were escorting a prisoner who was arrested on a warrant from Whim to Mibicuri Magistrate’s Court, Berbice.

It is alleged that the policeman was speeding in a southern direction when he swerved from a motorcyclist. He then lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a utility pole.

This newspaper understands that the police vehicle is wrecked beyond repairs and the prisoner and one of the constables, who lost most of his teeth, was admitted to the New Amsterdam Hospital while the driver and another rank were treated for minor injuries.
