ALL-ROUNDER Imran Khan was given a rousing send-off by several members of Hawaiian Arctic Cricket Club (HACC) at the Seatown Restaurant & Bar, following his debut season in the Scarborough Cricket Association (SCA) Elite League tournament in Toronto, Canada.Among those present and congratulating Khan on his fine performances for the club were long-standing Narchand ‘Archie’ Mohan, chief executive officer (CEO) Eon Gunraj and manager Frederick Halley.
The outstanding left-arm spinner and middle-order batsman, who hails from Wakenaam Island, Essequibo, had the unique distinction of hitting the highest score (84) and capturing the most wickets (13, at 11.85 runs each) for HACC in this year’s inaugural SCA Elite League.
Khan was the leading wicket-taker and run-scorer for Lankans Cricket Club in his fourth year representing that club in the Toronto & District Cricket Association Second Division tournament where he accumulated 473 runs from 15 innings at an average of 33.79 with five half-centuries and a highest score of 87 vs Ghaznavi CC. He claimed 30 wickets from 16 games with best figures of four for 15.
After winning the Premiere League for six consecutive years, HACC lost their bid to capture the Elite League title, bowing out to eventual winners Victoria Park in their semi-final encounter.
