Dear Editor,
We read with great sadness of the passing of Professor Doris Rogers. I had the good fortune of many discussions with Professor Rogers on the importance of Art in our Cultural milieu. She was a great believer that had a great understanding of the value and utility of the fine Arts and who made a great contribution to making our society a nicer place where we express our deep feelings through the fine Arts.
It is fortunate that during my discussions with her when she visited our home, she persuaded me to purchase the set of paintings she produced while in Nigeria, including a fascinating painting with Kente clothe. Her several paintings have greatly enhanced my personal collection and will provide a fond memory of the giant of a Guyanese woman she was.
Regards
