Eleven players missing from third round today

ELEVEN vital players from the respective franchises will be missing from today’s start of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) Jaguars Franchise League Three-day tournament, due to a West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) training camp in Barbados.
The camp forms part of preparations ahead of the senior team’s tour to the UAE where they face Pakistan in three T20s, three ODIs and three Tests, between September 20 and November 3.
The West Indies ‘A’ team will tour Sri Lanka during that same period.
Chronicle Sport was informed by GCB’s Territorial Development Officer, Colin Stuart, that the eleven players are: Leon Johnson, Rajendra Chandrika, Paul Wintz, Keon Joseph, Ronsford Beaton, Vishaul Singh, Veerasammy Permaul, Devendra Bishoo, Gudakesh Motie, Assad Fudadin and Shimron Hetmyer.
Meanwhile, for today’s third-round fixture, West Berbice will clash with West Demerara at the Young Warriors Cricket Club ground, Lower Corentyne will play Upper Corentyne at Port Mourant, Georgetown will oppose East Coast Demerara at GCC and Essequibo battle East Bank at Everest.
After the first two rounds, Lower Corentyne accumulated 36.5 points from their two outright wins to be at top of the points standing.
East Coast Demerara with wins over West Demerara and Upper Corentyne are on 31.5 points in second position.
West Demerara occupy the third position on 21.5, while Essequibo are on fourth with 18.1 points.
Georgetown are on fifth on 10.6 points, West Berbice are on 10.1 points, while East Bank and Upper Corentyne secured 9.7 and 9.5 points respectively in the eight-team League after two rounds.
