ACTING Police Commissioner David Ramnarine has described as a “murderous murder” the recent shooting death of Colin Perreira, called “Malcolm”, by a businessman in Perry Street, Tucville Georgetown on Tuesday. In the boardroom at Police Headquarters, Eve Leary on Friday, Commissioner Ramnarine said, “The matter disturbed me greatly, and I termed it a murderous murder…I can’t understand how we make the level of appreciation so shallow. Indeed, (I am) very disappointing that a licensed firearm holder could discharge his firearm in those circumstances.”

A Tucville, Georgetown businessman identified as Robert Benn allegedly fired six rounds from his 9mm weapon at the front windscreen of Toyota Allion PRR 4393 that was turning on his bridge on Tuesday last, killing the 24-year-old Perreira and leaving hospitalised 22-year-old Gailann Chacom. The injured woman’s relatives say her condition is stable but she is still traumatized.
The acting Top Cop said the issue was discussed during a Thursday police meeting; charges would be laid against Benn, and the police have mechanisms in place to further detain him beyond the stipulated 72 hours.
