Second Andrew Lewis Novices boxing rescheduled to Friday

THE second Andrew Lewis Novices boxing championships which was scheduled to start last evening at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall has been rescheduled to next Friday and will now be held at the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue.Eleven boxing gyms from around the country will be represented and keen, exciting competition is anticipated as the young pugilists from each of the gyms and in each weight categories will be seeking championship honours in their respective weight divisions during the three-night affair which starts at 19:00hrs next Friday and concludes two nights later.
Defending champions Guyana Defence Force will be keen to make a successful defence of the overall champion gym title they won at the inaugural championship last year, but they will have to be wary of the opposition, as two gyms each from Essequibo and Berbice as well as two from Linden and four others from Georgetown will be seeking to lay claim to the championship title.
Weigh-in and medical examinations will be held from 17:00hrs next Thursday at the Andrew `Six Head’ Lewis Gym, in Albouystown.
Admission is $500 for adults, while children will be admitted free.
