Six months for stabbing brother

THIRTY-EIGHT-year-old Philbert Edwards was on Friday sentenced to six months jail by city Magistrate Fabayo Azore for stabbing his brother with a knife.The miner pleaded guilty to wounding his brother, Sutton Edwards, on July 9 at Princeville, Potaro, with intent to murder him.
According to the prosecution, on the day in question around 02:00 hrs, the brothers were involved in a heated argument which quickly escalated into a scuffle, during which Pilbert pulled out a knife from his pants pocket and stabbed his brother.
The assailant, however, begged the magistrate for leniency, since he was under the influence of alcohol when he stabbed his brother, and now regrets his actions.
Magistrate Azore, after considering the miner’s plea, sentenced him to the minimum penalty of six months.
