CAROL Beckles, popularly known as “Sister Carol,” of Bel Air, North Sophia, suffered millions in losses as a fire of unknown origin destroyed her home on Friday evening.During an interview with this newspaper, the distressed Beckles explained that tragedy struck around 18:30hrs when she received a call from her neighbour, who informed her that the house was on fire.
“I was at work when my neighbour called and said that my house in on fire… when I arrived home the entire inside was destroyed and only the outer frame was left standing,” said a tearful Beckles.
This was shocking she said, given that no one was home at the time. According to residents, the fire started from the lower flat of the home and spread rapidly.
A member of the fire service indicated that it appeared to be an electrical problem and added that investigations are still under way. Meanwhile, Beckles, her two children and another relative are now homeless and are hoping for the best in the near future.
