–Chase Academy maul Bishops’ High 13-0 for North Zone title

CHASE Academy will move on in the Digicel National Schools Football Championship after they mauled the Bishops’ High school 13-0 in the final of the North Georgetown Zone yesterday. The Guyana Defence Force ground hosted the demolition of the Carmichael Street-based secondary school by their South Cummingsburg counterparts with goals coming as early as the 6th minute off the boot of Kelsey Benjamin.
That strike seemed to set off an individual goal-scoring competition among the Chase players, as two minutes later, Ryan Hackett slotted home his first before doubling up in the 14th.
Job Caesar netted the fourth in the 30th minute and Benjamin in the 32nd to complete ‘the old one two’ for the Chase side who were by now in the driver’s seat at 5-0 by the half.
On the return, Joshua Williams joined the party in the 48th before Hackett and Benjamin both completed their hat-tricks in the 53rd and 64th minutes while Caesar added his second and the team’s ninth just four minutes later.
Hackett took the lead in his personal goal-scoring battle with Benjamin when he added his fourth in the 70th before Stephon Reynolds’ 75th minute shot made it 11-0.
Timothy Alberts 76th minute goal, coupled with Williams in the 79th, ended the slaughter of the Bishops’ High side.
Finally it was Hackett’s four goals that won the internal battle of goalscorers as Benjamin ended with three goals and the Bishops’ High ended with a broken heart.
They will take on the winners of the South Zone final between Sir Leon’s and Lodge Secondary set for today at the Guyana Defence Force ground.
