Bartica teen remanded on marijuana charge

NINETEEN-year-old Dennis Boston of Lot 35 First Avenue, Bartica appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan charged with the offence of possession of marijuana.Boston pleaded not guilty to the charge which read that he had 112 grammes of cannabis in his possession for the purpose of trafficking on July 8 at his residence.

Police Prosecutor Denior Jones told the court that on the day in question police went to the suspect’s home, acting on a ‘tip-off’ and conducted a search.

The accused was the only person at home and the police went into his bedroom where they found the suspected narcotics inside one of his shirt pockets. Under caution, the teen allegedly told ranks: “Is a man pass and give me it fuh keep.” He was subsequently arrested and charged.

The police prosecutor objected to bail on the grounds that no special circumstances were cited. The Chief Magistrate refused bail and Boston is to make his next court appearance on August 12.
