OVERSEAS-based Guyanese Calvin Ming picked up two podium finishes this weekend as the F1600 series continued in Ohio.Ming could have made it a perfect weekend with three wins in as many races but car troubles sidelined him in the last race of the day.
In the first race, Ming was knocking on the door throughout the keenly contested action-packed event but could manage to finish only third behind Peter Portante, and Neil Verhagen respectively.
In the second race, he managed to make the jump to first after some intense driving with Phillippe Denes and Peter Portante finishing a close second and third respectively.
“The race was good from the start. We tried to stay in the lead pack and in the end it worked out. It was a good battle with the front group and I can’t thank Team Pelfrey enough,” said Ming.
In the final race of the day, however, an electrical failure put him out of contention on the final lap while he was leading.
He finished thirteenth.
