THREE boxes of cocaine, containing the remaining 420 pieces of the total 692 pieces of the illegal drug were tendered into evidence Monday, in the ongoing trial of self-confessed drug trafficker Barry Dataram.Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) prosecutor Kunyo Sandyford-Thompson, in her appearance before City Magistrate, Judy Latchman, made the submission for the boxes of cocaine pieces to be admitted as evidence in the trial of Dataram, his common-law wife Anjanie Boodnarine, together with Kevin Charran and Trevor Gouveia.

One of the boxes contained 200 cocaine pieces, while the second contained another 200 and the third 20 pieces.

The white freezer in which the illegal pieces were found, along with a multi-coloured box containing utensils were also marked and tendered into evidence.

The utensils in the multi-coloured box were three plastic cups, two table spoons, two hammers two digital scales, one stainless bowl, a stainless pot spoon, a knife, a small chopper and one box cutter.

The evidence was tendered and marked as exhibits in the presence of the defendants and lawyer Glenn Hanoman.

It is alleged that on April 16 last, at 661 Fourth Avenue, Block X, Diamond, East Bank Demerara, 129.23 kilogrammes of cocaine were found on the premises when Dataram and the others were in the building. Hence they were charged with being in possession of the drugs for the purpose of trafficking.

The matter is adjourned to July 14, 2016.
