TWENTY-TWO goals were scored at Cuffy Ground on night five of the Ministry of Education-sponsored Stop Gender-Based Violence Football tournament, organised by the Petra organisation. The first game, Campbellville vs Laing Avenue, ended in a 4-4 draw. Laing’s scorers were Roy Cossou who netted a brace and Orlando Ricketts and David George who both made single strikes.
Meanwhile for Campbellville, Okeri Codrington’s two strikes, coupled with one each from Ozeal Small and Kenneth Jackson, provided the equaliser.
In game two, Holmes Street won their encounter over California Square via walkover while game three saw West Back Road, thanks to a Jamal Haynes double (17th and 27th), beat Channel 9 Warriors whose only strike came from Kemo Lawrence in the sixth minute.
Tucville and North East La Penitence played to a 1-1 draw, thanks to Calvin Moore and Dennis Edwards while Globe Yard edged Cross Street 2-1.
Globe Yard scorers were Andrew Murray (17th) and Rolex Smith (28th) while Cross Street had Shalomo Hunte (3rd) registering on target.
In the last game of the evening Festival City were downed 2-4 by North Ruimveldt. Festival City’s Eon Alleyne who scored in the 14th and 19th saw his strikes overturned by Anthony Sancho’s 9th minute strike as well as Gerald Gittens’ (15th and 30th) and Joshua Browne’s (16th)
Matches continue tomorrow with Broad Street playing the Ministry of Health, Albouystown facing Young Ballers and West Front Road confronting Queen Street Tiger Bay in the first set of matches.
Later that evening, Bent Street will battle against Kitty Weavers while Alexander Village challenge Leopold Street and Sparta Boss oppose Sophia.
