The CHI Miss Universe, Biosilk and Kardashian product lines were officially launched at the Georgetown Club by the sole distributor, Robeta Sami, a young Guyanese entrepreneur.

When beauty company Avon closed its doors in Guyana last year, many persons were left without a diverse range of beauty and care products to choose from. At the same time, the move left in the cold many persons who had traded the products to supplement their incomes.

Sami, however, had an alternative plan. Based in Barbados, she is now capitalizing on the void left by Avon, using the CHI Miss Universe, Biosilk and Kardashian product lines. Sami created her own company, Caribbean Premier Distributors (CPD), and subsequently obtained sole distributorship from the beauty companies last December.

According to the young entrepreneur, the CHI Miss Universe, Biosilk and Kardashian product lines, though high-end, are made affordable in Guyana, and cater for all types of hair texture. She said these products, which include SHINE Shades Colour 5 in 1, CHI Enviro Soothing Treatment, CHI Biosilk Styling Products, CHI Man and Kardashian Beauty, are loved by beauticians all over the world.

Colleen Reis, a beautician for many years, has echoed similar sentiments. She pointed out that the products are not only excellent for hair use, but are environmental friendly, in particular the CHI Enviro Soothing Treatment.

These products will be sold in the Kaylan’s Mall on Lamaha Street, starting today. Persons, particularly women, have the golden opportunity to become sub-distributors of the internationally recognised products.

Guyanese fashion icon Sonia Noel has endorsed the product 100%. “I was so impressed after using it,” Noel told the scores of women and men who participated in the launching ceremony.

Noel, a true women’s advocate, said she feels even more empowered when other women empower themselves. “I like to see women empowering themselves; l like to see women venturing out on their own,” she said.
Quoting Maya Angelou, Noel said, “When you learn, teach; when you get, give,” as she further endorsed Sami’s decision to have sub-distributors, which will create an opportunity for other persons to create their own businesses.

“As you climb, take others with you,” she added, noting that women must be supportive of each other. “We must go back to the days of being our brother’s keeper; we have to be beautiful on the inside, not just the outside.”
