According to reports, the ladies who clean the church and prepare the sanctuary for Mass on Sundays made the dreadful discovery.
The women found the sacristy (a room for keeping vestments such as the alb and chasuble), public address (PA) system room and another room used for storage of floral, costumes and other items, ransacked.
Persons in the area reported that the incident may have occurred during the wee hours of yesterday morning.
The intruders gained entry to the building via a wooden wall on the south-eastern part of church. The thieves broke the wall and gained entry through a hole.
The church noted that the amplifier and a stabilizer in the PA system room are two items that were noticeably missing. The intruders left several gowns that are worn by the priests and altar staff strewn across the floor of one of the rooms. The incident has sparked outrage by members of the Roman Catholic community.
The police have been contacted and are investigating the incident.
