A SOPHIA resident was on Monday released on $50,000 bail by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan on a simple larceny charge.
Terrence Hoppie, of ‘C’ Field Sophia, denied that on January 27, 2016, in Georgetown, he stole a GPS tracking system, a compass, two gas bottles and an 800-pound fishing seine, all totalling $1.152M, property of Corwayne Van Sertima.
Hoppie was last month charged for fraudulently converting the items to his own use and benefit. This charge was, however, withdrawn and the larceny charge instituted on Monday.
The matter was adjourned until May 27.
