HEAD coach of the men’s National football team (Golden Jaguars), Jamaal Shabazz, has announced a provisional list of players to face the Canada Olympic Team on May 15, 2016 at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence. The squad consists of 25 players including six overseas-based players namely Pernell Schultz (Trinidad & Tobago), Mustafa Haqq (Barbados), Anthony Whyte and Daniel Whyte (Canada) and Charles Ishankie and Marvel Barrington (England).
Sunday’s event will see a preliminary showdown between DIGICEL’S Inter-Secondary School football champions Christiansburg/Wismar Secondary and the Milo Secondary School Under-20 champions Chase Academy.
This match will begin at 16:00hrs. The feature game, Golden Jaguars vs Canada Olympic team is set for 19:00hrs.
Encampment for the Golden Jaguars team will start today, when they will have their first training session and will end on the May 16
For game day, regular tickets are being sold at $1 000, VIP tickets at $5 000 and booths are being sold at $80 000. Booth cost includes the ability to have a maximum of twenty persons, six car passes and food and drinks being brought to the ground.
The squad will practise today from 09:00hrs to 11:30hrs at a venue to be confirmed. However, from 16:30hrs they will train at the stadium at Providence.
Tomorrow they will be at the Guyana Defence Force ground from 09:30hrs to 11:00hrs and at the stadium from 16:30hrs.
On Thursday, they will be at the stadium from 09:30hrs, and from 17:00hrs on Friday and Saturday they will be back at the National Stadium.
