THE National Exhibition Complex, Sophia, is almost ready for Thursday’s grand opening of GuyExpo as exhibitors wind down preparations.GuyExpo Committee Public Relations Officer, Lloyd David said in a press release that a number of exhibitors, especially big companies, have been working around the clock to ensure their booths are attractive and weatherproof for the four-day exposition.
He said that large tents with prefab expo booths have already been installed, while other exhibitors are on the ground putting finishing touches to their booths.
He added that this year’s exhibition promises to be the best ever, since it’s a part of Guyana’s Golden Jubilee celebrations.
The widest range of local products and services will be displayed in one venue, which will be transformed to dazzle visitors.
“There are many new exhibitors on board this time around and the experience will be great,” said Tameka Sukhdeo Singh, GuyExpo coordinator. “Persons can come, for instance, and have a real feel of the popular Aruwai Resort, which would be amazing.”
Patrons can avoid lengthy ticket queues by picking up their tickets any day prior to the event. Tickets are available at the Sophia Secretariat, along with vehicle passes. Adult tickets cost $500 while children are $300 each. Parking with adequate security will be provided with the purchase of a $1,000 vehicle pass.
This year fantastic gate prizes will be up for grabs at GuyExpo. Patrons will have many opportunities to walk away with a number of fabulous nightly prizes, including a trip for two at Aruwai Resort, City Tours, and a night for two at Herdmanston Lodge.
In addition, patrons with winning tickets can walk away with expensive pieces of jewellery, furniture, cellular phones and other items.
Corporate Guyana will be showcasing in a very big way with tons of great opportunities for all and sundry, the release stated, and this includes the much anticipated offerings of the two telecommunications giants, GTT and DIGICEL, which have traditionally attracted huge crowds.
The training for small businesses is also organised as part of this year’s event, as the Organising Committee is focusing on providing the necessary skills for small entrepreneurs.
According to the coordinator, there will be two business sessions daily, covering key topics such as Packaging and Marketing, Guidelines on Preparing a Business Plan, Access to Finance, Social Media and Website Development.
Entrepreneurs and exhibitors who are interested in developing their businesses are encouraged to attend these forums between Friday and Sunday, which will be held in the boardrooms of the National Exhibition Centre, Guyana Tourism Authority and the Guyana National Bureau of Standards at Sophia between 14:30hrs and 16:00hrs.
