THE police are investigating the motive behind the murder of Parika fuel dealer, Seeram Singh on Saturday last, as evidence implicated a deportee who was identified as the gunman.
Singh, 52, called “Brother See” of Lot 40 Parika Outfall, East Bank Essequibo, was stabbed to his torso and shot to the hip and head.The deportee and two others including a female are in police custody.
According to police sources, the deportee who is known along the East Bank Essequibo was identified on an ID parade as being the trigger man who attacked the fuel dealer. It was noted that gunpowder residue was found on the deportee after a swab test was done on his hands. Checks at his home also discovered incriminating evidence.
The police are confident that their investigations are bearing fruit.
Relatives of the fuel dealer are still adamant that Singh was executed. Police will be preparing charges for the deportee soon.
Singh was walking along the roadway at Parika Outfall, when a man came up from behind and shot him in the back.
After the businessman fell, the shooter reportedly stood over him and shot him to his chest and head before taking away some two of his gold chains. A .32 live round and a bullet casing of similar calibre were found at the scene. The businessman’s wallet, cellphone and gold rings were not taken.
Police arrested the victim’s ex-lover, who had allegedly threatened to kill him after he had dumped her and started seeing other woman. Police sources confirmed that when Singh was killed, he was speaking to the same woman on his phone.
