IT’S finally May! So you know what that means? Lots of Jubilee-themed events will be happening all across Guyana. This month is one month where there will be no shortage of places to go, and things to do. So, enjoy it to the fullest, as Guyana celebrates its 50th Anniversary!

TODAY
**The Golden Children Project is hosting its Golden Children Album Launch and Party at Palm Court.
This album is a compilation of several talented local artistes, all paying tribute to Guyana through original compositions and covers of famous Guyanese songs. Admission is $2,000, and it’s sure to be worth it. Come out and enjoy the performances; the amazing music from the project; vibes of the Boom DJs, and mind-blowing light show by Pulse Entertainment.
**Celebrate the Arrival of All Peoples with ‘Nrityageet 37’ at the National Cultural Centre from 19:00hrs.

**Visit the Theatre Guild and enjoy plays from local playwrights at the National Theatre Festival. The plays will be held on all of the four weekends of the month, beginning at 20:00hrs each night.
**Looking for some artistic inspiration? Then Jazz and Poetry on a Stool is the place for you at Julian’s Bar on Cummings Street, Alberttown.
Enjoy performances by local poets and musicians as they gear up to celebrate the Golden Jubilee! Admission: $1,000.

TOMORROW
**Enjoy a lovely evening at the National Cultural Centre for the 2016 Mother and Daughter Pageant. This year’s event is being held under the theme, “25 Flights of Love”. Come and celebrate mom, and cheer on the 21 participants as they vie for the coveted title of “Mom and Daughter of the year”.
**Enjoy a film on Guyana’s history as seen through the eyes of renowned local filmmakers at the CineGuyana Short Film Festival at the Square of Revolution from 19:00hrs.

**In the mood for some Roc ‘n’ Roll? Then visit Niall’s Bar on the East Bank of Demerara for ‘Diamond Uprising’, a rock concert featuring local rock bands ‘Veterans’ and ‘Et Tu Brutus’. Tickets are $1,000. Event starts at 20:00hrs.

**Gravity Lounge presents, ‘Electro! The Ultimate EDM Party’, starting at 20:00hrs. Everyone free before 23:00hrs! Come out and dance the night away to the best in House, Techno, EDM, Trance and Dubstep by popular EDM DJs!
SUNDAY
**It’s Mothers Day! So if you’re looking for somewhere to take mom to eat, then visit the Gravity Lounge for its Mother’s Day Lunch Buffet from 11:30hrs-15:00hrs.
**The Jubilee Literary Festival continues! Visit the Indian Monument Gardens to enjoy literary works of Indian poet, Rabindranath  Tagore’s ‘Gitanjali’. Event starts at 17:00hrs.

**Looking for a sporting activity? Then attend the National Swimming Competition at the Aquatic Centre from 10:00hrs. Yes! The Golden Jubilee is celebrating through sports as well!
