DIGICEL Guyana yesterday launched its ‘Fit in 50’ fitness event in which participants have 50 days to get fit for the 50th anniversary Jubilee Float Parade. The cell phone giant has been a major participant in the parade for the past five years. The fitness event was launched at Georgetown Cricket Club Ground, Bourda, drawing a large turnout of both men and women yesterday afternoon.

Digicel Guyana Public Relations Manager Vidya Sanichara told reporters yesterday that this year they named the event ‘Fit in 50’ to coincide with the 50th anniversary celebrations and they are very pleased with the overwhelming support so far.

She stated that initially they catered for 300 participants but yesterday alone saw more than that number and registration will still continue.

Sanichara added that it is their biggest turnout in five years and they will ensure that participants workout fully in 50 days from 5:30pm to 6:30pm, Monday to Friday, at GCC Ground, Bourda. The fitness trainers are Vanilla Roberts and Victor Logan.

CRICKET CHAMPION SONG
The session started off with a bang yesterday afternoon when the cricket champion song was played and the large gathering moved to the rhythm in relative ease, according to the trainer’s instructions.

Digicel Guyana Marketing Manager Jacqueline James, who was also present, told the large group that she was pleased to be a part of the event and thanked the participants for showing up to support Digicel Guyana.

Meanwhile, gifts were distributed, as well as t-shirts with Digicel ‘Fit in 50’ logo in white and red, which were handed out to the large group of participants.
