…..Georgetown thrashes East Bank
THE final round of the DCB Under-19 Inter-Association 2016 saw West Demerara holding off East Coast by six runs to retain their title and Georgetown thrashing East Bank by 249 runs.Playing East Coast at the Enterprise Busta Sports Club ground was a challenge for the boys from the West Demerara but they held their nerves to be victorious.

Batting first, West Demerara managed 183 all out from 47.5 overs. Their innings was built on the back of Ronaldo Renee who crafted 108. No other batsman got going as the East Coast bowlers bowled tightly. Pradesh Balkishun was the pick of the bowlers with 3/40.
East Coast reply came close to the targe as they kept the game open to the end and were eventually bowled out for 177 in the 49th over.
Vishwanauth Ramlakan and Bhaskar Yadram were the main scorers with 46 and 39 respectively. Rishie Looknauth and Neal Mclean were the most successful bowers with three and two wickets respectively.
Over at the DCC ground , national player, Ronaldo Alimohamed, slammed 128 while Joshua Persaud and Raymond Perez made 98 and 57 respectively to pile up 399 for Georgetown against East Bank.
Christian Husband and Sagar Hatheramani reaped some success with three and two wickets respectively.
Chasing such a mammoth total, East Bank who didn’t win a match in the first two rounds, did not pose any threat to the Georgetown bowlers.
They folded for 150 with Sagar Hatheramani being the only batsman to make a decent score (30). Timothy McAlmont was the destroyer with the ball; he grabbed four wickets while Darshan Persaud captured three.
