Howard `The Battersea Bomber’ Eastman continued with his impressive form after stopping Englishman Steve Goodwin on March 13,1996 at the Brent Town Hall in London.Goodwill suffered a TKO in round five of the bout that was scheduled for eight. Eastman remained unbeaten with 11 victories, 10 coming from the abbreviated form.
The lanky middleweight would continue his winning ways and was rewarded with several titles. However, it took American William Joppy to stop the winning spree.
Five years and 21 fights after he stopped Goodwill, Eastman battled Joppy for the vacant World Boxing Association (WBA )middleweight title. He lost the close fight against Joppy via Majority Decision
The Guyanese would have another shot at a world title in February 2005. This time he lost by a unanimous decision to undisputed world champion Bernard `The Executioner’ Hopkins. Eastman holds the distinction of being the last man to defeat Guyana’s first world champion Andrew `Six Head’ Lewis.
He will turn 46 in December and in a career that is 22 years old at present has secured 49 victories and 13 defeats.
