Cuban Engineer found dead at Providence

A 47- year – old Cuban engineer who recently came to Guyana on board a vessel was found dead on the Providence, East Bank Demerara roadway hours after he disembarked the vessel, which he was working on.

Dead is Joel Perez Laffita who arrived in Guyana on board the MV Tracy Coaic which docked at the Rubis Wharf on the East Bank Demerara.

According to a police statement, the circumstances surrounding the death of the man are being investigated by ranks of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Police Force.

The man’s lifeless body was found at approximately 01.30 hrs on Tuesday. The body is at the Georgetown Public Hospital Mortuary awaiting a post mortem examination.

The Guyana Chronicle was informed that the Cuban national might have been shot during an attempted robbery.
