TOSHAO of Toka Village in the North Rupununi Region Nine, Delano Davis, on Friday received $200,000.00 from Minister of State Joseph Harmon. According to a release, Harmon explained that the donation is to assist Toshao Davis to transport and accommodate a delegation from the village of Toka to Georgetown to visit various ministers and address concerns of the village.
Minister Harmon undertook to make the contribution during a recent visit to Lethem.
Meanwhile, the Toshao pointed out that the objective of the council’s trip to Georgetown is in keeping with a forward momentum already initiated by the Government of Guyana.
He told Harmon: “we feel this initiation of a working relationship with your ministry and the other ministries within our government will strengthen our plans for development and their implementation.”
Davis also revealed that the Toka Council is a youthful one with seven members. He added too that the venture will provide an opportunity for the group to be more au fait with the various government officials.
The Toka Council is expected to visit Georgetown for one week from Saturday, March 12 to Saturday, March 19.
