President David Granger has made it clear that he is not afraid of releasing the findings of the Commission of Inquiry (CoI) into the death of Dr Walter Rodney.

However, the Head of State is asking the public to be patient and to give Cabinet and the political parties an opportunity to study the document. The President made his intentions known on Wednesday following several calls from politicians and lawyers to make the report public.

The Head of State told reporters that the report was laid before Cabinet on Tuesday and will be discussed at the Central Executive Committee of the PNC/R this evening.

“Cabinet has not made any decision and in due course we will and I intend to release it, I am not afraid of releasing it and let the public judge for itself,” the President said.

The CoI was established in 2014 by then President Donald Ramotar to determine as far as possible who or what was responsible for the explosion that killed Rodney on June 13, 1980.

The commissioners, in the final report, concluded that Rodney was the victim of a State-organised assassination and this could only have been possible with the knowledge of then People’s National Congress (PNC) Prime Minister Forbes Burnham.
