Sancho to serve 9 years for wounding

COLIN Sancho, a man charged with attempted murder and whom a jury found was fit to stand trial, pleaded guilty to wounding and was jailed for nine years yesterday.Firstly a 12-member jury found that the accused was fit to face trial. After this was made known, Sancho offered a plea to wounding, which the prosecution accepted.
Sancho exhibited remorse and claimed that he was sorry for what happened.
Presiding judge Justice Navindra Singh imposed a 15-year sentence on the prisoner who benefitted from a six-year deduction by virtue of his six years’ incarceration.
This resulted in Sancho having to serve only nine years.
State Counsel Miss Narissa Leander prosecuted. Attorney-at-law Mr. Peter Hugh defended.
