GUYANA’S recently crowned National Women’s table tennis champion and Lindenwood University scholarship holder Chelsea Edghill completed an impressive showing on the intercollegiate circuit over the last weekend.She won the Women’s Singles at the National regional division intercollegiate table tennis Championships, played at the gymnasium of the University of Lindenwood, Missouri. The competition pits upper Midwest division teams against their lower Midwest division counterparts.
Fresh off her recent success at the National championships, Edghill, defeated Maria Castillo of the University of Wisconsin in the final by a 3-0 margin to secure victory and avenge an earlier defeat in the group stages.
In group action the number one seeded in group two, Edghill, lost to eventual finalist Castillo 3-2, but defeated Furuta Mayuko 3-0, Andrea Hoppert 3-0 and Jinvi Humi 3-0 to break into the quarterfinals.
In the quarterfinals she defeated Yan Dan and later went on to defeat Zhang Yixin in the semi-finals before avenging her earlier loss to Castillo in the group match.
