THE City Engineer’s Department has been tasked with the restoration of the buildings that accommodate the city engineer’s staff, the constabulary officers, the municipal training complex and the office of the sexton.According to a release, the office of the sexton that was in a state of disrepair has been renovated. The sexton’s building is located in Le Repentir Cemetery.
This building has a register with records of deceased family members and the location in which their graves can be found. This information dates back to the first internment on the 15th of March, 1861.
Public Relations Officer (ag.) Debra Lewis said, “The City constabulary building was refurbished; this included repairs and painting of the historic edifice. Also, the department building has been expanded to accommodate the newly formed Traffic Management Unit.”
She said work on the city engineer’s building is near completion and the repairs included removal of defective boards, replacing of the roof gutters and painting.
Meanwhile, Town Clerk Royston King said in addition to providing training and requisite tools and equipment for employees, it is important that the employers provide a working environment that is conducive to health and is free from potential hazards. “I am cogniSant that a safe and healthy work environment enhances production,” King said.
