WITH less than 72 hours remaining before the season’s opening Endurance Race of the Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club, top dogs Ramchand’s Wreckers are priming for a battle with some of Guyana’s finest.Team principal and owner Anand Ramchand, who spoke to the media yesterday, confirmed that the team is looking good in terms of preparation, adding, “We are looking forward to a lot of competition; this year looks like a lot of competition and we are looking forward to the big guns.”
He contended that he will field a four-car team in this event come tomorrow, inclusive of two Toyota Celica, a Toyota Levin and a surprise package that will take the field by storm.
Though he declined to name the fourth car, he confirmed that all competitors on the day will be blown away by its ability.
Ramchand will team up with long time racing partner Adrian Fernandes inside their Celica, come race day.
“It’s a fair day and we want to have fun; it’s all about endurance and finishing the race and who can show the skills. The endurance race is something that is free and fun,” said Ramchand.
In keeping with tradition, cars will be placed into groups based on engine capacity and will compete for three hours along the largest version of the South Dakota Circuit.
In an added attraction for fans, there will be a several three-lap superstreet races where street cars will be allowed to race along the smaller track.
The Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club (GMR&SC) has also announced that spectator admission is free and the event begins at 10:00hrs. (Stephan Sookram)
