MEMBERS of the Rose Hall Town Council of Region 6 (East Berbice/Corentyne) were last Friday assured of being given assistance from the Office of the Prime Minister to address some of the many issues impacting negatively on their aspirations for the town. They got this assurance from Special Assistant to the Prime Minister in Region 6, Mr Gobin Harbhajan, whom they had invited in lieu of Prime Minister Nagamootoo to hear them ventilate issues of concern. Chronic residential drainage problems, poor solid waste management and disposal experienced by the Council due to inadequate resources were the main and “most worrisome” matters discussed during the two-hour-long meeting.

Harbhajan thanked the Council for inviting him to the forum, and took the opportunity to raise complaints by some vendors about the management of stalls in the Rose Hall Town Market. The Council promised to investigate the complaints and to resolve any that were outstanding.

Harbhajan also praised the councillors for their resolute efforts to beautify RHT despite difficulties caused by inadequate material and financial resources they have in the past had to endure. He assured the Council that he would use his office to give them 100% support in their efforts.

He also assured them that, where necessary, he would be forwarding their issues and concerns to all the relevant Ministries and Agencies of Government for their consideration and supportive action.
