Human torch
A TWENTY-five-year-old mother of five, who was turned into a human torch on January 28, 1966 died at the Georgetown Hospital. She is Sheila Mahadeo of Delph Street, Campbellville.
Relatives told the Graphic that Mahadeo was about to light an oil stove when her night-dress caught fire and she was badly burnt. Her 50-year-old mother, in an attempt to rescue her, had her left arm burnt.
Mahadeo was rushed to the hospital in an unconscious condition, suffering from burns all over her body.
The police had information that Mahadeo had poured kerosene oil on her garments and set herself ablaze shortly after returning from a film-show.
