UCCA Mash Cup attracts more sponsors

ASHIEK and Son Motor Supplies and Auto Sales has signalled its support towards the Upper Corentyne Cricket Association (UCCA) Mashramani Cup cricket tournament, which is set for February 21.At a simple presentation ceremony held recently, Ray Ali, Managing Director of the business establishment, located at Palmyra, East Canje Berbice, presented the sponsorship cheque to Hubern Evans, senior coach of the UCCA.
Ali said that he is proud to be associated with the striving cricket association which has over the years produced many outstanding cricketers with the latest being current West Indies Under-19 captain Shimron Hetmyer, who is in Bangladesh for the Youth World Cup.
Ali continued by praising the club for providing opportunities for the young people in the Canje area. He also admired the association for the level of accountability shown over the years.
Evans, in reply, thanked the company for coming on board once again. He said that despite the challenges faced, the club continues to march forward. He called on other businesses and private individuals for support.
This event will form part of Guyana’s 50th Independence Anniversary celebration, with proceeds going towards further improvement to the association’s facilities and day-to-day running. In addition, funds will be allocated to three schools in the No. 19 to Gangaram area.
Scheduled for the Number 69 Vikings ground, the one-day event will feature 10 teams from the Upper Corentyne area in a 5/5 encounter, starting at 09:30hrs.
Tickets cost $200 per person, while children under 12 years will be admitted free.
