Thirty – one – year old Donetta Williams of Dog Point Bartica was killed after she walked into the path of a moving truck in Central Bartica on Wednesday, January 20, 2016.

According to information reaching the Guyana Chronicle, the woman attempted to race over the road even as the truck was making its way along 1st Avenue Bartica.

The driver of the truck, who was identified as Dale Edwards, told investigators that immediately after the accident, he rushed the woman to the Bartica Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police sources have since indicated that based on the reports of eyewitnesses, the driver of the truck was not speeding but rather driving moderately when the accident took place.

Edwards is in police custody assisting with investigations even as truck – GRR 7153 – remains with the police for inspection.
