THE Wayne Forde-led Guyana Football Federation (GFF) is currently in the process of reviewing the management team’s contract for the STAG Elite League, with the likelihood of termination.
Admitting that the league (Genesis) ran at a loss of millions, the GFF president had stated that his entity will be searching for ways where they can cut back and according to one credible source, to get rid of the management team’s contract will help them (the GFF) to save millions.
Under the Normalisation Committee, the Kashif and Shanghai Organisation was awarded the contract to manage the two-part league after being awarded following a public tender.
Tagman, headed by Alex Graham was the other company that submitted a tender bid.
Though the GFF is yet to make the figures attached to the contract public, the credible source at the GFF revealed that the Kashif and Shanghai Organisation will be paid $7.312M.
Chronicle Sport was privy to the contract which was signed by Co-Director Kashif Muhammad and Normalisation Committee Chairman Clinton Urling on September 4, 2015.
To date, the Kashif and Shanghai Organisation has received $3.656M and will collect the balance in two phases; $1.828M one week before the commencement of the second half of the league and $1.828M the week after the completion.
The GFF is yet to announce a commencement date for the League (Finale) since an established review committee is at present re-evaluating the event to come up with avenues that would eliminate several shortfalls.
A contact member of the management team said that they are unaware of any move by the recently voted in Executive Committee of the GFF to terminate their contract, but the move, if done, wouldn’t come as a surprise.
