THE RESIDENTS of old Kara Kara, Linden, were forced to investigate the reason behind an unbearable stench emanating from an abandoned land over the past two days. To their shock, it was the stench from a partially decomposed body found lying in the grass.
Dead is Francis Peters of 43 Old Kara Kara, Mackenzie, Linden. He was 53 years old.
Even though partly decomposed, he was identified by residents on the scene, and was further identified at the Wismar Hospital Mortuary on Friday evening by his niece. According the ‘E’ Division Commander, Calvin Brutus, the state of the body gives an average of four days since he died.
The body bore no marks of violence, hence murder has been ruled out. His sister Barbara Peters told this publication that she last saw her brother on Boxing Day. Residents recalled seeing him up to last Wednesday selling grapes in the vicinity of the market.
Francis Peters was a staunch Seventh Day Adventist, who visited church every Saturday. He is remembered as a very jovial person, and is left to mourn two children and his sister, who remembers raising him from the age of five.
